It is not a new trend. The vertiginous heels arrived a long time ago to scare the most inexperienced and to provide several extra centimeters to the most skilled and daring. Of course, there are shoes that more than for walking seem designed to be displayed in a showcase.
Beautiful? Yes. Comfortable? I don’t believe it.
- Fashion shows are the perfect setting to display these types of impossible shoes. In the last Paris Fashion Week we have been able to see this curious design by Sarah Burton that is not surprising because of her high heel, but precisely because of its absence. Suspended platform shoes that defy the laws of gravity and fulfill their objective: surprise. This particular model has combined perfectly with the ethereal dresses of Alexander McQueen.
- Prada surprises this Spring Summer season with a collection of shoes inspired by vintage American cars. Small headlights, shapes that imitate the typical decoration of Harley motorcycles, flares that extend to the ankle, and automotive resources to stomp on the asphalt without losing a drop of elegance. A risky bet was resolved with a note.
- This jewel sandal signed by Gaetano Perrine for his Spring Summer collection is a very clear example of sculptural design. The heel made up of four metallic spheres, and the front platform provide a consistent base on which, they say, you walk comfortably. The visual appearance, however, is fragile and ethereal, as if the small metal plates were going to break when walking.
- Ana Locking’s designs are less designed for the catwalk and more for the city. They are shoes for real women, but daring and skillful to handle themselves without problems on their very fine stiletto heels. Elegant and colorful, they stylize the feminine silhouette with designs that mix classicism with original touches.
- Very different this model from Cascade’s S/S collection. Like the previous shoes, it provides considerable extra height to whoever wears it, but it does so with emphatic character. Far from thin, elegant but fragile heels, the width of this heel provides security with each step. However, the aesthetic is not heavy thanks to the interior void of the platform and the heel; a most original solution.
