You are in a store trying on some shoes that you intend to buy, they seem comfortable, they look pretty, they are fashionable and they are your style. However, you cannot get out of your head the idea that, once you put them on even to go to the office, they are going to hurt you. What’s more, they may even rub you and give you blisters the first few days. It has happened to all of us, no matter how comfortable the footwear is and how sensitive your feet are, wearing new shoes means going through the hardship of enduring foot pain until you get hold of them.
Why do my feet hurt every time I put on new shoes? You ask yourself. Feet take a few days to adapt to a new shoe. And if you look closely, even the shoes that you had from last winter and that you just put on again can hurt you. Relax, like everything, this also has a solution and it is simpler than it may seem to you at first glance. Here are a few tricks to make your shoes a little bigger and prevent them from squeezing you.
Ideas to give your shoes a boost and don’t squeeze you
If you want brand-new shoes to stop being a real odyssey, try the following expert tricks.
Apply moisturizer
This is a little trick that our grandmothers already used and that is most effective when it comes to making shoes one size larger. Smear a little of the moisturizing cream that you use on the edges of your shoe, and if you see that they are also narrow due to the sole, apply the cream without fear. Let it act for at least one whole night. Remove excess cream with blotting paper and put them on, you will notice a big difference. If necessary, repeat the process the following night. With this, you will get the footwear to give itself and that does not hurt you or chafe. Extra tip: remember what we just told you when summer arrives and you wear strappy sandals on the instep.
Thick socks and a hairdryer
We have not gone crazy, nor do we mean that you wear your shoes with thick socks… The idea is that you enlarge your shoes in those areas where your foot oppresses you. First of all, put on thick socks so you don’t burn yourself, put on your shoes, and apply heat with the hair dryer to those places where you notice that the shoe squeezes you: the toecap, the heel, or the instep. We know that shoes don’t usually cause these problems, but just in case you got the wrong size, know that this method is also suitable for sports shoes.
And for the leather shoes… Put them in the freezer!
Perhaps you have already heard about this secret formula to enlarge leather shoes, but you have not dared to try it because you think that it does not work… Well, you know that it does work! Put your leather shoes in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer overnight. When you take them out, you will see how it has given way. Wait a few moments before putting on your shoes to avoid getting cold feet.
If you don’t feel confident putting your new shoes in the freezer, try this. Prepare a bag with water, put it in the freezer and, once it has frozen, put it inside your leather shoes for as long as the ice lasts before it starts to melt. Be sure to close the bag well in case you get lost and a drop spills.
